Victim Support Scotland (VSS)
Victim Support Scotland is the lead voluntary organisation in Scotland helping people affected by crime. It provides emotional support, practical help and essential information to victims, witnesses and others affected by crime. The service is free, confidential and is provided by volunteers through a network of community based victim and youth justice services and court based witness services. The services to victims and witnesses provided by Victim Support Scotland are available as soon as and for as long as victim/witness wish.
Sacro, Safeguarding Communities - Reducing Offending
Sacro’s Mission is to reduce conflict and offending and make communities safer. Sacro aims to promote community safety across Scotland through providing high quality services to reduce conflict and offending. Sacro is committed to developing new and innovative ways of working and influencing the development of Government policies and of legislation. It provides services in conflict resolution, criminal justice and youth justice based on the values of mutual respect, recognising and valuing diversity, personal responsibility, society's responsibility to all its members, capacity for change and to work together to reduce conflict and repair harm. Sacro also provides consultancy and training services, currently in community mediation, restorative justice and work with schools.
Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Services - Victim Information and Advice.
Victim Information and Advice (VIA) is part of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), and offers a service to certain victims, witnesses and also, in cases of sudden, unexpected or crime-related deaths, the next of kin. The COPFS is responsible for investigating and prosecuting crime in Scotland. However, VIA staff are not prosecutors.
Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA).
The Scottish Children's Reporter Administration (SCRA) is the national body responsible for providing a care and justice system for all Scotland's children. SCRA became fully operational on 1st April 1996 and their main responsibilities are;
• To facilitate the work of Children's Reporters
• To deploy and manage staff to carry out that work
• To provide suitable accommodation for Children's Hearings |
